Score Reader
Turn a PDF or photos of sheet music into a MusicXML file, which Sectional and notation programs (MuseScore, Finale, Sibelius, Dorico) can open. It all happens in your browser: your music isn’t uploaded anywhere.

- A clean PDF works best: notation software’s own PDFs, or those from CPDL or IMSLP.
- For a paper copy, use your phone’s document scanner rather than the camera: Notes on an iPhone (tap the camera button, then Scan Documents), or Google Drive on Android (+, then Scan). It flattens the page and evens out the light, and saves a PDF.
- Photos of several pages: choose them all at once, in page order.
Use a computer if you can: reading takes a minute or two for the first page and up to a minute for each page after, and needs a lot of memory. The first time, the page downloads about 60 MB.

Next: open the file in Sectional to practise your part, or in MuseScore to check and correct it.
- Check the words: the reader misses or misreads some. In Sectional, you can type or paste the words for your part with “Words…”.
- Recognition isn’t perfect. Listen through once and fix any wrong notes in MuseScore (free).
